Distributed solar generation is a part of the official drive towards distributed generation from all forms of renewable energy. These include wind power, tidal power, mini-hydro power, fuel cell, biogas etc. Most of these sources have all the benefits listed above. [phxoptin id=1433742517]
Properly planned and installed, distributed generation of solar power has many benefits to the owner and the community in general: It can save the owner a lot of money. It will reduce the load on grid generation, transmission and distribution facilities meaning a lesser infrastructure cost and hence cheaper energy.
When more power is contributed by distributed sources, localized faults will have a lesser impact. Distributed solar generation is a part of the official drive towards distributed generation from all forms of renewable energy. These include wind power, tidal power, mini-hydro power, fuel cell, biogas etc.
Example: A distributed solar photovoltaic scale-up project in Beijing. A World Bank–supported solar project in Beijing yielded bill savings for a variety of public, commercial, and industrial consumers with DPV installations ranging from hundreds of kilowatts (kW) to several megawatts (MW).
Credit: World Bank. In developed countries, the deployment of distributed photovoltaics (DPV) has been driven chiefly by a combination of consumers’ financial considerations and governments’ clean energy policies. Consumers deploy DPV to lower their electricity bill and, in some cases, to generate income.
Credit: World Bank. As the world’s fastest-growing local energy technology, distributed photovoltaics (DPV) has upended the traditional paradigm of one-way power flow from the grid to consumers. Solar electricity systems located close to grid consumers—known here as DPV—empower consumers to produce electricity for themselves and for the grid.
