With regard to technology research and development, the latest photoelectric conversion efficiency of China’s mass production of silicon solar cell has reached more than 25%, which is the world’s leading level (Chen et al. 2022). Research on energy conservation for building walls in China began in the 1980s. In terms of the type of wall, the majority of the zero-energy buildings in China now use new types of walls.
According to statistics, each year only 10–15% of the new buildings in China can satisfy the mandatory energy-saving standards, meaning that more than 80% of the new buildings consume high energy. Of the existing 40 billion square meters of buildings, more than 95% are high-energy consumption buildings (Xu, 2005).
At first, the integration of PVs in buildings was constrained due to the cost, rigidity, and weight of standard PV panels. However, finiteness of fossil fuels and improved cost dynamics of the solar PV is leading to the integration of solar energy systems in buildings.
To reduce the consumption of electricity and non-renewable energy, China has adopted active energy-saving technologies in building design through the utilization of wind energy, solar energy, and various geothermal resources (Jing, 2003).
Furthermore, the incentives for zero-energy development are insufficient, which led to the gradual loss of the market and competitiveness of zero-energy buildings in China (Wang and Sun, 2011). 6. Conclusion
