Most notebooks have an AC adapter light in the area near the power connector. The AC adapter or battery light is identified by the battery light icon . If the light is on, then the AC adapter is functioning correctly. The AC adapter is connected and the battery is fully charged.
It is likely the charger jack module. Or, unfortunately it could be the motherboard. The motherboard is not sensing that the power cord is plugged in and electricity is streaming to the battery. That sensing comes from one of the leads from the power jack module and it can be damaged or the sensor on the motherboard can be damaged.
Battery is charging fine now. First thing to try is a new OEM Dell adapter. If that is recognized, you're set. If not, next thing is to replace the DC jack in the system. One of those will likely solve the problem. It the adapter is still not recognized, though - it's the charge circuit that's bad and the mainoboard will need replacement.
Right-click on the battery adapter and select Disable device. Step 3: Right-click on the battery adapter again and select Enable device. If re-enabling the battery driver does not help, you can try updating it to see if that gets rid of the “No battery is detected” message on Windows. Here’s how.
