During charge-discharge cycles, transportation of charge carriers from/to electroactive materials is the main role of the current collector in supercapacitor. The interfacial resistance between the current collector and electroactive materials governs the charge transport efficiency of the current collector .
The current collector is an indispensable component in potassium-ion capacitor, which greatly affects the electrochemical performance. At the same time, the current collector also affects the pre-potassium process of the potassium ion capacitor.
Current collectors are not only a charge transfer channel between the active electrode layer and the external circuit, but also a supporting carrier substrate, the mechanical properties of which are very important in the production of supercapacitor cells and the cell operation in harsh conditions.
Thus, studies of the influence of the current collector structure on the electrochemical properties of supercapacitors indicate that a nanostructured current collector has a number of advantages associated with a high specific surface area and electrical conductivity, which reduces the resistance to diffusion and ion transport in the electrolyte.
The current collector is an indispensable component in potassium-ion hybrid capacitors, which not only provides mechanical support to load electrode materials, but also collects and outputs the current generated.
However, the protective layer may reduce the quality parameters of the current collector or supercapacitor by increasing the resistance toward the flow of charges. Some of the literature suggests the introduction of tin in 1-3% to take the lead for the fabrication of current collector.
