Abstract—Grid connected solar inverter converts the DC electrical power from solar PV panel into the AC power suitable for injection into the utility grid. This paper discusses various control modules used for the developed grid tied solar inverter.
This paper proposes filter design guideline for single-phase grid-connected PV inverters. By analyzing the instantaneous voltage applied on the filter inductor, the switching ripple current through the filter inductor is precisely calculated.
The control design of this type of inverter may be challenging as several algorithms are required to run the inverter. This reference design uses the C2000 microcontroller (MCU) family of devices to implement control of a grid connected inverter with output current control.

Since grid voltage is not under control, the only way to control the power fed to the grid is to control the current fed to the grid.
