This study focuses on the development of dynamic battery models for EV applications. The models are based on the second-order ECM technique and developed using the Modelica language for four different types of Li-ion cell chemistry commonly found in commercial EVs. The thermal behavior of the battery at the cell level is also considered.
However, the battery pack has been modeled as a single cell, and the utilized ECM topology differs from the usual selection as it consists of a series resistor and two capacitors. Additionally, the applied load refers to a short period of 20 s and, most importantly, is not related to any standardized driving cycle.

Modelica, an acausal and object-oriented equation-based modeling language, has been used for its advantageous features, including the development of extendable, modifiable, modular, and reusable models.
