Market forecasts by the World Economic Forum show that as more Africans gain access to energy over the coming years, the demand for batteries will grow to 83 GWh by 2030. Countries worldwide are renewing or adapting their political strategies for battery technologies. In this context, a new Fraunhofer ISI report is analysing the different battery policies and targets with focus on three fields of battery technology research: Lithium-ion, solid-state, and alternative batteries.
The Gambian government is expected to provide 35 megawatts (MW) by 2025 through a temporary measure using a Turkish powership. National demand is projected to reach 200 MW by 2025. Supply side constraints have created a high demand for quality generators and energy storage equipment such as inverters and renewable energy devices.
