The influence of energy storage on investment is contingent upon various factors such as the cost of storage technologies, the availability of government incentives, the design of market mechanisms, the share of generation sources, the infrastructure, economic conditions, and the existence of different flexibility options.
Building upon both strands of work, we propose to characterize business models of energy storage as the combination of an application of storage with the revenue stream earned from the operation and the market role of the investor.
In addition to the aforementioned tools, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) introduced a tool for evaluating financial aspects and analyzing scenarios related to energy storage named STOREFAST. 2 Schmidt et al. (2019) studied anticipated LCOS technologies using the tool provided by storage-lab 3 .
Haas et al. (2022) examined the significance of electricity storage options and their economic feasibility within the context of the growing share of variable renewable technologies in electricity generation . The primary focus was on evaluating the overall welfare impact of integrating renewable sources and storage on future market design.
Where a profitable application of energy storage requires saving of costs or deferral of investments, direct mechanisms, such as subsidies and rebates, will be effective. For applications dependent on price arbitrage, the existence and access to variable market prices are essential.
Through simulation, it was found that the cost-effectiveness of energy storage depends remarkably on both the round-trip efficiency and power-to-energy ratio of the battery storage, highlighting their importance. A comprehensive evaluation and design of ESS software tools were conducted by Nguyen and Byrne (2021) .

Estimate the profit of the energy storage system based on
When an IAMMETER energy meter is installed on the grid side, it provides two sets of kWh data: Exported energy: the kilowatt-hours (kWh) generated by the solar inverter and exported to the grid. Grid consumption: the kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed from the grid. The estimation of battery capacity would be based on these two parameters. Estimation approach. …

On current and future economics of electricity storage
For a broader market penetration of storage most important is their economic performance. As in principle many different storage options exist, for example, see Sterner/Stadler, 4 the first economic issue is simply the costs of different types of storage compared to each other to identify the most cost-effective storage option(see, e.g., the …
