Flexible solid-state supercapacitors (SCs) have attracted increasing interest because they can provide substantially higher specific/volumetric energy density compared to conventional capacitors.
Among them, the flexible solid-state supercapacitors combined with exceptionally long cycle life, high power density, environmental friendliness, safety, flexibility and stability, afford a very promising option for energy storage applications. This paper reviews flexible solid-state electrochemical supercapacitors and the performance metrics.
Fabrication of the Flexible Solid-State Symmetric Supercapacitor The supercapacitors were fabricated through the assembly of PVA/H 3 PO 4 gel electrolyte-coated Ti 3 C 2 T x /PEDOT composite electrodes ( Figure 1 ).
A supercapacitor is a potential electrochemical energy storage device with high-power density (PD) for driving flexible, smart, electronic devices. In particular, flexible supercapacitors (FSCs) have reliable mechanical and electrochemical properties and have become an important part of wearable, smart, electronic devices.
Fu et al. designed a novel and efficient flexible fiber supercapacitor (FSC) that consists of two fiber electrodes, a helical spacer wire, and an electrolyte ( Figure 13) . The use of a spacer wire enables the efficient separation of the two fiber electrodes and a scalable preparation.
For these applications lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries are vastly limited due to their relatively low power density and security risks. On the other hand, conventional supercapacitors are suitable for flexible and wearable electronics due to their high power density while their low energy density has hindered their wide applications.
