If it will only charge to 50% it does not have much time left. Kindly post the result of the test here. The highest liklihood is that your battery is right at a tipping point of failing and not provioding enough capacity to start the notebook for mobile use. You can also force Windows to generate a informative report on your battery.

Windows tells me that my battery has a design capacity of 48 669 mWh. However, the installed battery is a 11.1V 5200mAh battery. Multiplying those 2 values gives 57 720 mWh. I believe the original battery was a 4200mAh, or 46 620 mWh.
Allowing Windows to say that your battery is 100% charged when it is stopping the charge at 11% of its capacity is certainly misleading. From an end user perspective, I would state that Windows should diffuse the confusion and confirm that the battery capacity is 11% while also stating that the charge is complete.
The battery report remains the same however. A strange thing is that I have been plugged in with charging on from before the reformat, but now the battery percentage is lower 90+ to 85% currently. secondly, the battery light, orange for charging and green for full, is showing green, even though the battery percentage on the screen says 85%!

My recommendation is to take it down to 50% charge before recharging it. Full charge for your battery should be +6000mAh @ 188 cycles. Install Coconut Battery application and monitor battery use. Once battery maximum capacity gets down to +1000mAh, get a new one. Keep your battery plugged in all the time. Period.
