Dust deposition on solar photovoltaic (PV) cell surface will significantly decrease the PV power efficiency, as the transmittance of the solar cells would be greatly decreased by the deposited dust particles. This paper aims to study the anti-dust performance of super-hydrophilic coatings for the solar PV cells with water spraying condition.
Apart from these methods, lithography, screen printing, and roll-to-roll methods have been used in a few applications. However, the high temperature applied to the coatings on solar cells disrupts the PV properties of the solar cells. The purpose of the application of the heat is to ensure that the coating adheres to the surface.
The maturation of effective light management strategies involving antireflection coatings and light-trapping structures has helped to enhance the performance of solar PV cells . Antireflection coatings (ARCs) are predominantly utilized to suppress the Fresnel reflection losses when light propagates from one medium to another medium.
When sunlight shines on the photovoltaic panel, part of the visible light will be reflected, and the rest will be converted and utilized. Therefore, the transparency and anti-reflection of the self-cleaning coatings applied on photovoltaic modules cannot be ignored.
Toth et al. performed a durability study on photovoltaic glass coatings as part of a five-year experiment held at five different locations across the world. The prime aspect of their work is to investigate the effects of soiling and cleaning on the coated samples.

There are mainly two strategies to reduce reflection loss: (1) depositing single or multiple layer antireflection coatings or gradient refractive index thin (GRIN) coatings with matching optical properties on the substrate; (2) increasing the porosity of the material or etching the nanostructure array on the surface [5].
