Recently, the technology roadmaps carried out in thermal energy storage or in energy applications including TES identify KPI for TES. Unfortunately, this first attempt has been done individually and no comparison has been carried out. A key performance indicator (KPI) is a performance measurement that evaluates the success of a particular activity.
The performance of solar thermal power plants can be assessed by means of the power plant's capacity factor (CF), which is defined as the ratio of the annual produced electrical energy (AEP) to the maximum electrical output if the plant worked at full capacity during a given period (NCP).
Performance indicators of PVT system. During summers, PVT systems typically produce adequate amounts of electricity and thermal energy depending upon the available solar irradiation. In addition, the PVT systems may generate excess energy during sunny days, which can be stored for future use.
The PV panel's temperature combined influence on both current and voltage will determine the total output power. The analysis of these electrical parameters highlights the potential benefits of integrating thermal management arrangements, like the PV/T module, to enhance the overall performance of solar energy conversion.
