Maximum 30-sec Discharge Pulse Current –The maximum current at which the battery can be discharged for pulses of up to 30 seconds. This limit is usually defined by the battery manufacturer in order to prevent excessive discharge rates that would damage the battery or reduce its capacity.
These voltage limits will have to be applied anyway, but they tend to be a hard stop. If the vehicle controller knows the current/power limits ahead of time then the battery pack can be protected and the user can be limited more gradually to avoid the sudden loss of power.
(Recommended) Charge Current – The ideal current at which the battery is initially charged (to roughly 70 percent SOC) under constant charging scheme before transitioning into constant voltage charging. (Maximum) Internal Resistance – The resistance within the battery, generally different for charging and discharging.
Maximum Continuous Discharge Current – The maximum current at which the battery can be discharged continuously. This limit is usually defined by the battery manufacturer in order to prevent excessive discharge rates that would damage the battery or reduce its capacity.
So, yes. Batteries have a max current drain (given by design and physical/chemical limitations) and yes the storage rating (being Ah, Wh or Joules) changes depending on battery design and load applied, and yes Wh is a better way to compare batteries because it takes voltage in account.
As I've guessed, indeed the capacity rating of a battery is actually the charge rate given some specific conditions (e.g: applying a load of mA, for time, over degree temp, until the voltage drops to volts).

Multiplus2 input current limit
When I have a ~1400w load and select 5A input current limit, my multiplus limits to 4.5-4.7A, perfect. But if I raise it to 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, or 7.5 amps it limits the current to 5A in all those settings, only when raised to 8A it will stop power assisting.

Why does a battery have a limit for current in amperes?
With some batteries the current should be artificially limited to protect the battery from self-destruction. It may be able to produce a high current for a short time and then chemical products build up that limit the current ("polarization").
Current Limit Estimation
Therefore, current limit estimation or State of Power (SoP) estimation is a continually evolving map. Typically the time window will be from 1 second to 30 seconds for an electric vehicle. References. Sagar Bharathraj, …

DVCC limit charge current does not work
I did not even need to change current limit, but just on AC1 OUT1, a high load suddenly switched off, and the solar input would not lower for minutes, and excess current goes into battery, charging many times over current limit. This issue with solar not adjusting fast enough is a big problem, and subject of this thread. 2. Minimum SOC handling:

For a battery with a capacity of 100 Amp-hrs, this equates to a discharge current of 100 Amps. A 5C rate for this battery would be 500 Amps, and a C/2 rate would be 50 Amps. Similarly, an E-rate describes the discharge power. A 1E rate is ...

Limit grid battery charge current when AC-coupled
I know I can limit the charge current and it will work fine when combined with DC-coupled MPPTs which can charge the battery directly with no limit. However, in my case I have an AC-coupled Fronius on the output of the Multi, so I want the Multi to charge at full capacity when using solar, and 15A when those amps are coming from the grid. It ...

Maximum discharge current (initial current)??
Normal lead acid batteries are not happy with charging or discharging at more than 20% their C rating. Your batt bank is rated at 230Ah x 2 = 460Ah @ 12v. Your max realistic charge rate for your battery bank would be 20% of 460a = 92a. Your multi has a max charge rate of 80a, within battery specs.
