The optimal configuration capacity of photovoltaic and energy storage depends on several factors such as time-of-use electricity price, consumer demand for electricity, cost of photovoltaic and energy storage, and the local annual solar radiation.

The outer model optimizes the photovoltaic & energy storage capacity, and the inner model optimizes the operation strategy of the energy storage.
In order to meet the photovoltaic energy storage demand in the distribution network, Wang’s multiple operation scenarios of energy storage were divided into grid scenarios to obtain the demand relationship of energy storage capacity under different operating conditions and to complete the calculation of energy storage capacity [ 21 ].
The actual operating conditions and battery life should be considered in the optimal configuration of energy storage, so that the configuration scheme obtained is more realistic.
Different ISOs have different minimum size requirements. Some allow systems rated at 10 MW and higher, some at 1 MW. Energy storage or PV would provide significantly faster response times than conventional generation. Systems could respond in milliseconds (once the signal is received) relative to minutes for thermal plants.
