Policy support remains a principal driver of solar PV deployment in the majority of the world. Various types of policy are behind the capacity growth, including auctions, feed-in tariffs, net-metering and contracts for difference.
It aims to deliver over 320 GW of solar photovoltaic by 2025 and almost 600 GW by 2030. Alongside the plan, the Commission also presented a set of initiatives on permitting processes for renewable energy projects, which are reflected in the revised Renewable Energy Directive (EU/2023/2413).

Senegal accounts for 5.5% share in the total installed capacity of solar PV in the African region. Owing to the government target to increase the share of RE in the generation mix and favourable policies for the RE sector, the total installed capacity has reached 263 MW in 2022 from 107 MW in 2017, grown at a CAGR of 20%.
