Figure 1 shows a simplistic view of a typical rechargeable lithium-ion battery construction. It consists of three major components that make up the battery: cells, housing, and electronics. Figure 1 This is a typical view of lithium-ion rechargeable battery construction. The cell is the power source of the battery.
The first commercial rechargeable lithium battery was a Li/MoS 2 system that was produced by the Canadian company Moli in the late 1980s. Later, metal oxide cathodes like MnO 2 were also used. During discharge, the lithium is stripped and dissolves in the organic electrolyte which contains a lithium salt.
In order to improve the energy storage and storage capacity of lithium batteries, Divakaran, A.M. proposed a new type of lithium battery material and designed a new type of lithium battery structure, which can effectively avoid the influence of temperature on battery parameters and improve the energy utilization rate of the battery .
Lithium-ion chemistry is not inherently safe so cell selection, manufacturing process, electrical and mechanical design of the battery becomes very critical to ensure a safe battery. Figure 1 shows a simplistic view of a typical rechargeable lithium-ion battery construction.
The Li + ions act as current carriers between positive electrode and negative electrode when the battery is charged or discharged through an external circuit. During charging, the lithium ions move through the electrolyte from the positive to the negative electrode and, during discharging, they move in the opposite direction.
The technology is now widely commercialized. Owing to the stable binding of manganese and oxygen, the whole structure is more stable than LCO and NCA, even when the battery (using a graphite negative electrode) is charged up to a higher potential of 4.4 V than with a conventional lithium-ion battery (4.2 V).

Lithium-ion battery (LIB) is one of rechargeable battery types in which lithium ions move from the negative electrode (anode) to the positive electrode (cathode) during discharge, and back when charging. It is the most popular choice for consumer electronics applications mainly due to high-energy density, longer cycle and shelf life, and no memory effect.
