It examines the current state of solar power and related academic solar energy research in different countries, aiming to provide valuable guidance for researchers, designers, and policymakers interested in incorporating solar energy into their nation's electricity generation.
The analysed data show that 11,785 authors are researching in the field of Solar Energy and Sustainability. Table 1 shows the list of the 20 authors with the highest H-Index according to the data recorded in Scopus. In this list, all authors have an H-Index above 100.
The vast majority of the research was focused mainly on the technical aspects of solar energy, whereas other important aspects received significantly less attention. There is a significant lack of research in relation to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
