These cabinets, also known as meter boxes or meter cabinets, are designed to house the electricity meter, which is a device used to measure the amount of electric power consumed by a particular utility.
Electrical equipment associated with the consumer’s electrical installation is increasingly being found within the meter cabinet of domestic and similar premises. The space within such cabinets is limited and typically allocated for specific usages by the distributor and energy supplier and therefore, should not be used to house other equipment.

As you know, a CT meter cabinet is usually used with a CT meter socket. Though usually mounted separately, in some instances, the socket is mounted directly on the CT cabinet itself. In some cases, and in certain areas like the Southwest, a transocket, which houses both the meter socket and CT, is sometimes used.
The All-In-One CT metering cabinet houses all CT metering components in one enclosure (CT’s are purchased separately and installed and wired by customer). The advantages to this configuration are that the meter is visible from the outside, only one enclosure is required, and maintenance is easily performed by removing a single cover.
Inside the meter box, there are connections for the incoming and outgoing electrical cables. These connections allow the electricity to flow into the meter for measurement and then distribute it to the rest of the building.
